☆College Festival☆
Today my second year students were preparing for this weekend’s college festival (10/31 & 11/1).
We’re having a meat pie shop with Halloween decorations,
with chicken and beef pies imported from Australia!
They’re really yummy!!
Please come and try one!
★Australia★
Hi everyone!
I’m Rhys Wedlock of the Foreign Languages Department.
How are you?
Last week I took my first year students to Australia!
They’re staying in Melbourne for two months.
They’re studying English at college there ( http://www.engjoy.com.au/ )
with classmates from a lot of other countries.
They’re doing homestays, so they’re learning a lot of English in the daytime and speaking a lot of English in the evening.
First we flew to Sydney and did some sightseeing.
We saw the Opera House and took a ferry under the Harbour Bridge.
We also looked inside a beautiful cathedral (a big church).
Then we flew to Melbourne and went to all of their host families’ homes.
Everyone was excited but a little nervous!
The next day they had a placement test to decide their English class level.
I visited some host families and they were so kind and friendly.
I had to say goodbye to my students until December…
I’ll miss them but I’m looking forward to hearing their good English!!
My second year students are going to sell Australian meat pies at our culture festival on 31st October and 1st November.
Please come and try them…
they’re delicious!!
See you soon!
Going to Australia!
Hi everyone!
I’m Rhys Wedlock of the Foreign Languages Department.
How are you?
Next week my first year students are going to Australia for nine and a half weeks!
This week they’re coming to college every day for special classes.
They’re studying homestay English, TOEIC, etc.
At lunchtime we all had lunch together in the English Lounge.
They’re all excited but a little bit nervous!
We also had very good news today…
all my second year students finished job hunting!
One of my students is going to work at a hotel in Germany!!!
Good luck to all of them!
I stayed for only four weeks.
It was too short but I was able to make a lot of memories!
I hope to meet you guys again.
Thank you.
Our American Teachers♪
Hello everyone!
I’m Rhys Wedlock of the Foreign Languages Department.
How’s it going?
At ITHB we have native English teachers from Australia, Canada, Trinidad & Tobago, the USA and the UK.
It’s a very international place!
I’d like to introduce our two American teachers to you.
Of course, ladies first!
Frances is from Florida, and she is our youngest English teacher!
She has lived in Japan for four years.
She likes baking, reading, yoga and watching movies.
She has also done some stage acting!!
Jayson is from Wisconsin.
He has lived in Japan for 20 years.
He loves sport (baseball, American football and Japanese fencing) and country music.
Maybe he’ll sing some country songs for you!!
DFED♪
Hello everyone!
I’m Rhys Wedlock of the Foreign Languages Department.
How’s it going?
It’s so hot every day, isn’t it?
My students are on their summer holidays now.
Two of my first year students are studying abroad in Vancouver, Canada for four and six weeks.
My other students came to college today for DFED①.
DFED stands for “Don’t Forget English Day”.
We have two DFEDs in the summer holidays, one in the winter holidays, and three in the spring holidays.
It’s so students don’t forget English in the long holidays.
Today they studied TOEIC, Chinese and we did a lot of English conversation practice.
It was a long day but we had a lot of fun, and most importantly the students didn’t forget English!!!
World Communication Party♪
Hello everyone!
I’m Rhys Wedlock of the Foreign Languages Department.
How’s it going?
It’s very hot every day, isn’t it?
Every week my first year students have a class called World Communication together with ITHB’s overseas students from Vietnam, Nepal, China, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and the Philippines.
It’s a very interesting class.
Students can learn other countries’ culture and languages.
The best thing is that it’s a good chance to make international friends!
In the last class before the summer holidays, we had a party.
We watched music videos from around the world and had a lot of snack food!
It was a lot of fun and the students became good friends!!
Happy summer holidays everyone!
Special Guests☆
Ni hao everyone!
I’m Rhys Wedlock of the Foreign Languages Department.
How’s it going?
Last Tuesday three OGs came to my first year students’ “業界ガイド” class.
One is a tour gude, one works for an airport duty free shop, and the other one works at a train station.
They talked about their jobs, and it was really interesting.
It was so nice to see them again!
On Friday a very kind and friendly Chinese student came to my first year students’ Chinese class.
My students introduced themselves and asked her some questions, all in Chinese!
Tongue Twisters☆
Hello everyone!
I’m Rhys Wedlock of the Foreign Languages Department.
How’s it going?
My first year students have a class called “Listening & Pronunciation”.
We have two native English teachers in the class so students learn both British and American English.
In yesterday’s class we did tongue twisters (早口言葉).
The most famous one is this: “She sells sea shells by the sea shore.”
Try it!!!
We had a lot of fun & couldn’t stop laughing!!!
Lunch Time♪
Hi everyone!
I’m Rhys Wedlock of the Foreign Languages Department.
How are you doing?
The rainy season has come to Chiba, but today was nice and sunny!
At lunchtime Robert, Nick and I chatted with our students on the English Lounge balcony.
It was a lot of fun and we laughed a lot!!
We felt refreshed and ready for the afternoon classes.
I hope you can join us sometime!
